David Schwager – born in 1981 – freelancing audio engineer, recording producer and musician.

Since 2007 I’ve been working with musicians, bands and choirs, radio and television broadcasters and movie productions. I focus on high-quality recordings with special attention on spatial depth. Together with my clients, I work in studios, churches, in my mixing studio and in other locations that provide the best atmosphere for each specific project. Beyond that, I work as a recording and balance engineer in-house and on the OB trucks of the WDR (West German Broadcasting), amongst others for WDR3, Cosmo and Rockpalast.

When working on a project I pay special attention to the intended energy of the recording – starting with the choice of the most suitable recording space and technical equipment. Especially the dialog between the musicians – and at concert recordings the audience – is of high importance.

My way to working on music dates back to the time I attended the Landesgymnasium in Wernigerode – a boarding school with additional musical education. Besides singing in choirs and drumming in school bands I passed my Abitur exam there. Before moving to Düsseldorf to study audio engineering at the University of Applied Sciences, I worked as a “Jingle-Boy” and on-air design producer for Radio Bremen 4, NRJ Bremen and radio ffn in Hannover.

Alongside my work “behind the glass” I write music myself – for documentaries, image movies or for the progressive-indie-pop band Any Of Both. And every now and then I still like to sing in choirs to remain faithful to classical singing.

My family and I live in Düsseldorf and I work Germany-wide.
